YAC W S 2022

Youth Advisory Council (YAC) members help propose, organize, market, and execute teen & youth programs with the Hall County Library System! You will earn volunteer credit for the time spent at all meetings and other activities!

We're looking for enthusiastic students in grades 8-12 who are interested in making an impact on their community while developing their leadership skills and, most importantly, having fun! At our once a month, one-hour YAC meetings you'll work on projects to serve the library. You may be assembling craft packets, helping to prepare for summer reading, creating a display, or assisting in planning cool library programs! If you are 14 or older, you'll have the opportunity to help with library events on evenings, weekends, or holidays when it fits your schedule, including storytimes, children's events, and even outreach! If you are in grades 8-12 and would like to help the library serve teens and the Hall County Community, PRINT the membership application below, fill it out, and bring it to your first YAC meeting at the Blackshear Place Library, Spout Springs Library, or the Gainesville Library on the Square.

How does a YAC get volunteer credit? We will keep track of the hours members volunteer with us and provide an official summary when requested. If you need documentation, please let us know in advance so we can compile that information.

I missed the first meeting, can I still join YAC? Yes. The HCLS YAC runs throughout the school year. Feel free to join us at any of our meetings in August through April.

Is there any cost associated with YAC? NOPE!

Are parents allowed at YAC meetings? No. YAC is a time for teens to be teens with other teens! They will be well-monitored by HCLS Youth Services Staff. Parents ARE invited to the first meeting of each semester in August and January.

Do I have to join YAC to volunteer at the library? No. If you are 14 or older, you do not have to be a YAC member to be a volunteer shelver. To participate in other HCLS teen volunteer opportunities we do ask that you participate in YAC.

Please, always feel free to contact the YAC coordinator at your branch or lechols@hallcountylibrary.org with any questions or concerns.
