The library charges $10.00
to mail pictures or CDs made by staff or private photographer to
home or business. All items are shipped via the United States Post
Office "Return Receipt Requested." There will be additional
charges if insuring the package is requested.
The library will provide
a replica of the original photograph but will not remove flaws or
other defects during reproduction. The print is made from a scanned
image taken from a photograph or negative.
The library system requests
that library ownership be stated on or below the frame whenever
it is used in a publication such as a magazine or book or framed
as art and hung in a commercial establishment. The endorsement should
read: Provided courtesy of Hall County Library System.
You may bring in local
photographs or documents that you own to be scanned if they are
of historical significance to the county. The library staff reserves
the right to refuse to replicate an image or document you do not
own. There is a 20% discount if the library is allowed to make an
archival copy for its electronic collection and also given permission
to publish the picture in the library's electronic catalog. You
will receive credit for the picture.
Prints or electronic
files of library owned pictures available for reproduction can be
found on the library's web page under "Historical Photograph
Collection" or in the books by Sybil McRay, Windows of Memory
and Pictorial History of Hall County to 1950. The books may be purchased
from the library (click here), viewed
in the reference collection at any branch library in the county,
or borrowed through interlibrary loan from the Gainesville Branch.
If you plan to order
pictures from the web page collection or the McRay books, you will
need to identify them. Pictures in the "Historical Photograph
Collection" have a unique title and under the actual picture
a unique number. You will be required to provide both. From the
McRay books you will need to provide the page number a picture is
on and enough information to identify it if there is more than one
picture on the page. Many pictures in the McRay books do not have
unique captions. |
