Hall County Library System's Reading Patch Club
for Independent Readers in Kindergarten Through Fifth Grades

Join the Reading Patch Club and earn patches for your vest, jacket, cap, or bookbag by reading great books.

Register at any Hall County Library System branch and choose one of 24 patches you want to earn, then read 8 fictional or informational books on any subject. They should be books you have never read before on your reading level or above. Record the titles and authors in your folder and have an adult initial each title to verify that you read the book yourself. Please note that listening to books on tape or CD and being read to do not count.

When you have finished reading for a patch, bring your folder back to the Hall County Library System branch where you registered and receive your patch. Now you are ready to begin reading for your next patch.

The Reading patch Club begins the day after Labor Day and ends the day before the Memorial Day holiday. Your folders must be turned in during that time. If you have not completed a patch, you may work on it over the summer and receive your patch when the club begins again. Students entering sixth grade may receive their patches in the fall but may not sign up to read for another patch.
