The school
must have a library card. (The principal of the school
must send a letter on school letterhead requesting a library
card for the school.)
Requests
for books must go through the school media specialist
who will use a Teacher Request form. The media specialist will
fax (770-532-4305) or mail the form to the Gainesville Branch
of the library or e-mail it to astice@hallcountylibrary.org.
The check-out
period is 30 days. Generally, the books may not be
renewed. Special needs for renewals will be considered on a
case by case basis and must be made through the Youth Services
Department (770-532-3311, ext. 129).
The library
will provide as many books as possible to support subject requests,
without depleting the library’s collection in a subject
area. No more than five books will be sent on a particular
subject.
Requests
may be made for books but not audio-visual materials.
Teachers must use their personal library cards to borrow videos/DVDs,
audiobooks, or CDs.
We regret
that we cannot honor requests for adult, holiday, or other high-demand
books. Teachers may check these out on their personal
cards.
Schools will
be responsible for returning library books on time and will
be charged overdue fines for late returns. Also, schools will
be charged for lost and damaged books. For your protection,
we ask that these items be used only in the classroom. Please
do not send them home with students.
